SAP® Materials Management and Ariba® Integration
The Home Depot®, founded in 1978 and based in Atlanta, Georgia, is now the world's largest home improvement retailer and second largest retailer in the United States. The Home Depot currently operates in 50 U.S. states and in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, 10 Canadian provinces and Mexico. In addition, The Home Depot recently opened two sourcing offices in China. While The Home Depot is best known for its signature "orange box" store, they also operate several specialty subsidiaries that specialize in flooring, lighting, plumbing and landscape supply. Their EXPO Design Centers cater to design professionals with a wide array of home decorating products and services.
The Project
Following a recent implementation of Ariba and the sun setting of the legacy purchasing application, Store Managers required a single application to manage the newly revamped purchasing process. The application needed to be able to create and find purchase requisitions, enter goods received, and manage returns to vendor. This functionality had to be integrated within the corporate portal and provide a seamless experience to the manager as it bridged functionality from SAP® and Ariba®.
The Solution
Worklogix was engaged from early design and application simulation phases through the development and implementation of the integrated solution which utilized web services to provide components that seamlessly incorporated functionality exposed within both Ariba® and SAP®. The customized application flow enabled the new streamlined process while minimizing server interaction, providing a customized and intuitive front end, and eliminating the need for package based training or familiarity with the newly implemented backend systems.
Business Benefits
The solution allowed The Home Depot® to realize various business benefits, including:
